The second season of Hellevator premieres this Friday at 9pm ET on GSN.
Hellevator will pick up total viewer numbers in the "acceptable" range for GSN primetime standards. These figures will likely score between 350,000 total viewers and 400,000 total viewers. What will renew Hellevator is the 18-49 viewer figures. Hellevator will perform substantially well in 18-49 viewers, likely around 150,000 18-49 viewers and 200,000 18-49 viewers. These are incredibly good numbers for GSN standards and would cause the median age of Hellevator to be 50 years old or younger.
Last season, Hellevator had nearly half of all viewers under 50 years of age (45.6% the exact number). This is unprecedented for GSN, where their typical primetime show has a median viewer age of about 58 (about 30% of audience under 50 years of age), with daytime and other non-primetime areas skewing even older. GSN's priority is to get younger viewers, which is why Skin Wars, a successful young-skewing show, has had three spin-offs in two years.
GSN's acquisition of Scare Tactics further proves GSN is putting more of their production focus on Hellevator. GSN wishes to keep the Hellevator audience tuned in to their network for another hour (after the Hellevator new episode).
If Hellevator does not get picked up by GSN for an additional season after this current one, the series could get picked up on another network.
In addition to Hellevator given a 75% chance of renewal for Season 3, all other GSN originals remain at the same percentage from the renewal odds from last week (Idiotest=100%; Skin Wars=90%; Skin Wars: Fresh Paint=80%; Winsanity=1%).
