GSN announced this week that new episodes of Hellevator this Fall will air on a Friday (not a Wednesday like last year).
The great news about this is all episodes of Hellevator all air in October. This upcoming season (or "four week event") will finish before Halloween. This all makes the most sense considering in October, before and around Halloween, is the most appropriate time for a Halloween-themed game show.
Last year, the two episodes of Hellevator that aired before Halloween (October 21st and 28th) averaged 467,000 total viewers and 215,000 18-49 viewers. The six episodes of Hellevator that aired after Halloween (November 4th, 11th, 18th; December 2nd, 9th, 16th) averaged 228,000 total viewers and 103,000 18-49 viewers. Notice a significant difference?
While GSN has made their schedule decision, I stated last week that GSN should schedule Hellevator on Wednesday nights. Two recent originals GSN ran new episodes on Friday nights were The Chase and Chain Reaction last Fall/Winter, which were two originals that GSN had clearly lost interest in by that time.
Does this Friday night scheduling translate to GSN losing interest in Hellevator? No. I think GSN fears that Hellevator will perform to the numbers it did after Halloween last year, while I think differently.
Prediction: Hellevator Season 2 ratings, on average, will be stuck in the middle of the pre-Halloween numbers and post-Halloween numbers of 2015. This means Hellevator will average around 350,000 total viewers and 150,000 18-49 viewers. I do predict that throughout the four weeks, the Hellevator audience will rise, not fall, causing a season high for one of the last episodes (October 21st and 28th). This will earn Hellevator a third season for October 2017.
