"Ready to Play?"

On GSN advertisements throughout this summer, the slogan "Ready to Play?" is displayed at the bottom of the GSN logo.

GSN has had a lot of slogans throughout the years. From "The network of Games" to "Play Everyday" and now (lesser known), "We're Game".

I personally like "Ready to Play?" With and also a Skin Wars play along game when new episodes still aired, GSN does challenge viewers to play. I personally know a lot of people who like to play along to Chain Reaction, Idiotest and Family Feud actively.

Do you like GSN's new-ish slogan?

  1. "Ready to Play" ain't bad, but I still think that a better slogan would be GSN: Mostly Steve.

    1. A better slogan would be "Ready to Feud?" considering how they've wrecked their schedule.

"Ready to Play" would be a good slogan... if GSN actually had a good 7-day schedule. Look at this:

      Sunday - 18 eps. Feud (1-4pm, 6pm-12am)
      Monday - 14 eps. Feud (12-2pm, 6pm-11pm)
      Tuesday - 14 eps. Feud (12-1am, 12-2pm, 6-9pm, 11pm-12am)
      Wednesday - 18 eps. Feud (12-1am, 12-2pm, 6pm-12am)
      Thursday - 19 eps. Feud (12-2am, 12-2pm, 6-9pm, 9:30pm-12am)
      Friday - 17 eps. Feud (12:30-2am, 12-2pm, 6pm-11pm)
      Saturday - 20 eps. Feud (12-2am, 2pm-10pm)

This is what you call insanity, if you ask me. There's a minimum of 5 consecutive hours of Feud in primetime EVERY DAY from 6 pm to 12 am ET (except for Tuesday, which has the 2-Hour Idiotest block in the middle). Even on Tuesday, there's still 4 hours of Feud between 6 pm and midnight.

There is something SERIOUSLY WRONG with Davis and Goldhill if they can't figure this out. Either that, or they just don't care anymore. I'm willing to bet it's a combination of both. Even with the emphasis on the 18-49 demo, having a 5-hour marathon of Feud every single night in primetime is just ridiculous, and it's no wonder why they're completely out of touch with their viewer base.

    2. Good observation and adding up the slots.

Truthfully, the reason there is so much Steve Harvey Family Feud now is because GSN does not know how to fill their schedule. You noted the two hour Idiotest block on Tuesday. That's because Idiotest actually works for GSN. If Winsanity, The Chase, Skin Wars: Fresh Paint, Hellevator, Steampunk'd and Chain Reaction all worked out when it came to both 18-49's and rerun numbers, then we would have less Feud on the schedule right now.

GSN does not feel like acquiring something new like Hollywood Game Night and/or Celebrity Name Game. GSN just figures that their ratings are great with 100 or so Harvey Feud airings per week.

    3. Bob Barker reminding GSN to help control the Feud population: Have your Harvey spayed or neutered, Goodbye Everybody!

    4. I'll admit. I laughed at that. But I have to side with Scott T here. The amount of Feud airings on GSN everyday is nauseating. But at the same time, it's the only show that does regularly well for them. TBS has 3 hours of Big Bang Theory reruns every night because it does well. I agree that 5 hours of Feud is more than annoying, but it's not like GSN is gonna cut down on that. The only reason they would is that if Harvey suddenly started tanking. I would like to see Celebrity Name Game and or Hollywood Game Night on the schedule because it would something new and fresh.

Speaking of Celebrity Name Game, my local My Network TV affiliate is pushing the show back to 5 am beginning September 19th. That's a big ouch and hopefully isn't a sign that it's performing poorly locally. Then again, they put it up against Price Is Right in my area, so I guess I'm not surprised. I guess I'll have to record it now.

    5. No reason for Celebrity Name Game to get a huge demotion to 5am where you live on its own. Unless, there is something in favor of where CNG used to air that will bring great ratings in.

All this because Celebrity Name Game ticked up from Season 1 to Season 2. The past two weeks, CNG had a 1.3 and 1.1 household rating. That's good, not great, for summer reruns and for not the best timeslots or best rated stations.

    6. They're replacing CNG with Crime Watch Daily beginning that same day. Name Game currently airs at 11 am and remains that way until September 16th. I kind of wished that the show got a better affiliate like a CBS or NBC affiliate so it could get better ratings. Although Millionaire is getting a better timeslot in my area from 10 and 10:30 am to 3 and 3:30 pm beginning September 5th. So I ain't mad.

    7. Crime Watch Daily? Sounds like a horrible move on your affiliate's part.

Personally, I care more about Millionaire than CNG. Glad to see improved timeslots in at least two markets so far.

    8. That show currently airs at 6 pm. Don't know why they would move it around. But being in 11th grade and me getting up near 6 am, I might be able to watch at least one recorded episode before I leave. But still, dumb dumb move considered improved ratings.

    9. I've always wondered has the million dollar craze in game shows (*sigh* a few reality competition type shows) should still be continued to be welcomed with open arms...or has it over welcomed it's stay?

Granted it still a life-changing amount for anybody to win, but has it finally become a tiring gimmick in this genre?

    10. Started with Millionaire but is now tiring and we have done without lately. The cheap game shows (Family Feud, Celebrity Family Feud, Idiotest, $100,000 Pyramid, Celebrity Name Game) have been doing quite fine

    11. Just Curious.

p.s. Does LMAD, TPIR, Wheel and J! count On the list?

    12. I did not include them since they were all in existence before the million dollar game show era.

    13. So I guess that it's a no go then.

  2. I'm really surprised that the Soska sisters didn't file a lawsuit for this! LOL!!!!

    also what happened to..."Play Differently"?
