GSN Ratings 6/25: Saturday night 'Winsanity' reruns weak

GSN Primetime Ratings for Saturday, June 25th (All Times ET):
8:00pm Winsanity (rerun): 285,000 total viewers/71,000 18-49 viewers
8:30pm Winsanity (rerun): 221,000 total viewers/60,000 18-49 viewers; down 22% in total viewers/down 16% in 18-49 viewers from lead-in
9:00pm Family Feud: 287,000 total viewers/67,000 18-49 viewers; up 30% in total viewers/up 12% in 18-49 viewers from lead-in
9:30pm Family Feud: 367,000 total viewers/84,000 18-49 viewers; up 28% in total viewers/up 25% in 18-49 viewers from lead-in

Percentage of viewers under 50 years of age (and approximate median viewer age):
8:00pm Winsanity (rerun): 24.9% (64 years)
8:30pm Winsanity (rerun): 27.1% (62 years)
9:00pm Family Feud: 23.3% (65 years)
9:30pm Family Feud: 22.9% (65 years)

Summary: We can clearly see why GSN shuffled around Winsanity reruns on Saturday night and has eliminated some others. Poor Winsanity rerun numbers (which took a hit from 8pm to 8:30pm) also made Family Feud much weaker than usual.

In addition, the primetime/total day average for June 20-26 was 493,000 total viewers (primetime) and 319,000 total viewers (total day). This figure is up <1% in primetime from the prior week (490K on June 13-19) and up 2% in total day (314K). Year to date, the GSN viewer average is up 6% in primetime (465K on June 22-28, 2015) but down 15% in total day year-to-year (377K).

  1. It's going to be a very boring Q4 if the only shows GSN is focusing on are Window Warriors and Hellevator.

    1. Then it is going to be a boring 4th quarter, because in Q4, there will be no Skin Wars, Skin Wars: Fresh Paint (wrapping up this summer), Idiotest (wrapping up this summer) and then there is Winsanity (will be wrapping up if two new episodes a week continues-but with the current ratings, there might be a hiatus).

    2. Also: Additional seasons of Skin Wars, Skin Wars: Fresh Paint, Winsanity and Idiotest IF RENEWED would not come until 2017.

    3. I still feel that Window Warriors is going to get the "Steampunk'd" treatment and bomb hard, but we'll see.

    4. I agree Window Warriors will bomb. It might start off decent, then crash after the second episode.

    5. I do not have high hopes for Window Warriors at all. I predict it will do worse than Steampunk'd.

Skin Wars does very well because it has the right people (RuPaul, Rebecca Romijn). Steampunk'd didn't and I do not see anyone in sight for Window Warriors that has the RuPaul/Romijn status in that specific genre.

  2. Honestly the title alone just screams failure to me. ala Man V Fly
