GSN Ratings 6/9: 'Winsanity' debuts okay, skews older, faces rejection from half-hour to half-hour (UPDATE: ALL 8-11PM TOTAL VIEWER FIGURES)

More ratings will come in as they are provided

GSN Ratings for Thursday, June 9th (All Times ET):
8:00pm Family Feud: 665,000 total viewers
8:30pm Family Feud: 716,000 total viewers; up 8% in total viewers from lead-in
9:00pm Winsanity (premiere): 507,000 total viewers/0.10 18-49 viewers (about 130,000 18-49 viewers; down 29% in total viewers from lead-in
9:30pm Winsanity (new): 416,000 total viewers/0.08 18-49 viewers (about 105,000 18-49 viewers); down 18% in total viewers from lead-in
10:00pm Family Feud: 499,000 total viewers; up 20% in total viewers from lead-in
10:30pm Family Feud: 584,000 total viewers; up 17% in total viewers from lead-in

Primetime average: 565,000 total viewers

The good news: Good total viewer presence, but Family Feud reruns perform equivalent to the well-advertised Winsanity premiere. Still, better than all of Idiotest this year and most of the past two years.

The bad news: The 29% drop off from lead-in Family Feud. More than one-quarter of Feud viewers rejected Winsanity. Rejection from half-hour to half-hour with a loss of about one-fifth of both 18-49 and total viewers from 9pm to 9:30pm. More unfortunate news (which will be confirmed once exact 18-49's come in) is that both these episodes likely had a median age in the mid-60's.

Also, you cannot blame the Stanley Cup or anything on network television. A very weak night last night.

  1. Of course you can't blame the Stanley Cup. The game only drew 5 million last night. That's not big like the Super Bowl or NBA Finals. I'm surprised it skewed old. Maybe these types of shows are on the old side. I guess puzzlers like this one don't appeal to the young people. Chain Reaction 2015 had the same thing on its premiere night. Strong numbers, but really old demo. Maybe Winsanity might go the road of CR, but it's only two episodes. Maybe Feud was old skewing possibly at 8:30. Is this good news for Idiotest?

    1. "Chain Reaction 2015 had the same thing on its premiere night. Strong numbers, but really old demo."

I thought of this. Unfortunate for Chain Reaction, Catherwood's premiere had more total viewers and less 18-49's. That had a median viewer age of like 80 last summer.

"Is this good news for Idiotest?"

For this specific example: Yes. Because Idiotest this week alone skewed 10 to 20 years younger than what is above for Winsanity.

    2. It's even bad when Feud at 10 pm had much bigger viewers than Winsanity. Although Winsanity shouldn't drag down the average. In short, Feud dominates over Winsanity.
