GSN Ratings 5/25: Good for 'Card Sharks', bad for 'Lingo'

GSN Ratings for Wednesday, May 25th (All Times ET):
9:00am Card Sharks: 339,000 total viewers/46,000 18-49 viewers
10:00am Card Sharks: 255,000 total viewers/40,000 18-49 viewers
10:30am Card Sharks: 263,000 total viewers/46,000 18-49 viewers
11:00am Lingo (Woolery): 131,000 total viewers/37,000 18-49 viewers
11:30am Lingo (Woolery): 140,000 total viewers/39,000 18-49 viewers

Percentage of viewers under 50 years of age (and approximate median viewer age):
9:00am Card Sharks: 13.6% (78 years old)
10:00am Card Sharks: 15.7% (76 years old)
10:30am Card Sharks: 17.5% (74 years old)
11:00am Lingo (Woolery): 28.2% (61 years old)
11:30am Lingo (Woolery): 27.9% (61 years old)

Summary: These are the first ratings we have seen since Lingo returned to the schedule at the beginning of May and if this is normal, it appears Lingo is not long for mornings. The only benefit 10-year old reruns of Lingo had was a younger age skew, but still very bad 18-49 and total viewers overall (even for mornings).

For the age skew, obviously Card Sharks skewed old with a slight decline in the median viewer age throughout the morning. Card Sharks and Lingo still do not cut it for a network that wants their median viewer age to decline.

The better news, for the pre-1990's fans, is that Card Sharks (and likely Press Your Luck) held up fine in total viewers considering the 30-year old rerun factor.

  1. It's cuz The Price is Right & The View are in those timeslots you can't expect Lingo, Whammy or whatever else you put at 11am to put massive numbers up

    1. I am very aware The Price is Right has historically taken from GSN. But even with TPIR, I would think Lingo, one of GSN's best originals ever, could pull a little bit of a better audience than it did above. Of course, we would have to see other days of morning ratings.

    2. No, it has nothing to do with The View. At all. You're right about TPIR, to a degree, but Lingo shouldn't do THAT badly.

    3. Agreed. The Price is Right pulls much more from GSN than The View-which has been in a ratings decline for many years.

    4. Yes it has for The View I'm surprised it isn't canceled by now but Lingo's viewing hopefully improves for the time being
