GSN's third season of Idiotest premieres tonight at 10pm and 10:30pm ET. The first episode at 10pm is a celebrity episode which features Mike Catherwood (Chain Reaction) and Dr. Drew Pinsky (Loveline) competing against famous "YouTubers" GloZell Green and Gaby Dunn. GameShowNetworkNews has already reviewed this episode (it is a great episode of a great show).

This is the episode where host Ben Gleib claims that they tried to dumb down Idiotest for the celebrities.

Per our review, the only game change to this entire season of Idiotest, as confirmed by Ben Gleib, is that the "Smart Money Round" time limit has been bumped up from 30 seconds (the first two seasons) to 40 seconds. The Smart Money Round is still played the same way although both contestants have a combined 40 seconds to win $10,000.

In the second episode, at 10:30pm, friends compete against a married couple.

Idiotest started out very strong in its first season in August 2014 through January 2015. The first season averaged a moderate 373,000 total viewers but was extremely impressive in 18-49 viewers. Season 2 of Idiotest overall saw a slight downward trend in ratings, averaging 340,000 total viewers from April to December, 2015, but 112,000 18-49 viewers. That figure means, on average, 32.9% of all viewers of Idiotest Season 2 were under the age of 50 and the median viewer age skewed in the low 50's, which is incredibly young for GSN.

The third season of Idiotest contains 40 half-hour episodes with many, many themed episodes. These episodes will continue to air new Tuesday nights at 10pm and 10:30pm ET (and an additional new episode on April 20th).

  1. I still think it was better when Idiotest was teamed up with The Chase. The two shows complemented each other well, including the crossover episode and the crossover promos. Now, Idiotest is all on its lonesome and may very well be on its way out after this season. It's sad...

    1. I will agree that The Chase should have stuck around for the sake of strong total viewer presence and a strong lead-in to shows like Idiotest, Chain Reaction and Winsanity.

    2. Even with HF, I still think Idiotest won't get big numbers. If they stuck the show at 10 pm, that means they don't have faith in the show anymore.

    3. I think it could've been paired up with a revival of Distraction...but again that just my opinion.
