According to ShowBuzz, Hellevator debuted to a 0.15 18-49 household rating. This should equal approximately 185,000 18-49 viewers. The 9pm Idiotest received a 0.07 18-49 household rating, which should equal about 100,000 18-49 viewers. The 9:30pm Idiotest received a 0.03 18-49 household rating, which should equal about 35,000 18-49 viewers. We will see in full later as more ratings come in.

The 9:30pm Idiotest marks a series low in both 18-49 and total viewers.

Last night's Hellevator premiere debuted much higher in total viewers than the Steampunk'd premiere (on 8/19/15) by +31% but a little lower in 18-49's by -6%. Hellevator last night also topped this year's Skin Wars premiere (on 6/10/15) in 18-49 viewers by +12%.

On the sidebar poll, 20% of voters said Hellevator would debut between 500K and 600K total viewers, which it did. The majority (of the four) at 46% said Hellevator would debut under 400K total viewers.

  1. Makes sense. Hellevator does well while Idiotest plummets again. I don't get it. Did half the viewers decide to tune out by 9?

  2. "I don't get it. Did half the viewers decide to tune out by 9?"

Apparently so. You cannot blame competition on other networks. It's really the fact that the Hellevator/horror audience is an out-of-GSN audience, while a lot of the GSN audience avoided Hellevator and forgot about Idiotest at the same time. Also, I said this months ago, but Idiotest should have had a hiatus. It has been airing at two-a-week since April 1st despite very brief breaks.

The only real winner last night was the Hellevator premiere. Idiotest did poor, Family Feud recovered while the 11pm Hellevator encore poor performance is definitely concerning.

    2. I thought Hellevator might get a high viewer count for the premiere, because of the publicity and the fact it's a brand new show, so people want to check it out and see what's up.

Unfortunately, Hellevator's premiere killed Idiotest's numbers, and what's even worse, Hellevator's 11 pm rerun was a disaster. I guess people in the western time zone didn't want to tune in at all.

Next Wednesday... based on these numbers, Hellevator's 2nd episode will drop drastically in total viewers. Maybe 200-300k from what I'm guessing...

    3. There is also the Republican debate next Wednesday, which always seems to hurt numbers. I'm not quite sure what time that starts.

    4. Another Republican debate? Jeez. If I were GSN, I would not air new originals that night. Time wise for the debate, probably either 8 or 9 pm. I'm actually sort of surprised the Hellevator encore did terrible. The 18-49s are not bad, but the viewer number is way below the norm. I thought it would rerun well because unlike Skin Wars, you don't have to follow the whole season. It's new people every week. Problems that Hellevator might face are:

      1. Debates- They usually kill both cable and broadcast shows.
      2. Game 2 of The World Series- I believe it is Tuesday that The World Series begins on Fox. Although it is not as highly rated as the Super Bowl or the NBA Finals, it might cause a slight problem for both shows.
      3. Time of Month- Hellevator seems more like a show that is suited for Halloween time. After Halloween, people will start to get ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Also, your holiday themed specials will start popping up here and there. It is crucial to see how the show performs on the last 2 months of the year.

Can the show survive? Maybe. Can it lose viewers because of big events or they don't care? Definitely yes.

  3. Wow. I guess some people want to boycott Hellevator but viewers thought otherwise. If next week is the same, expect Idiotest to do better. It felt like a rollercoaster ride all season long.
