Ratings: 'Skin Wars' has four week high in total viewers; 'Idiotest' up (UPDATE: 10:30PM 'IDIOTEST' AND 18-49 NUMBERS)

Last night's new run of Skin Wars at 9pm ET drew 517,000 total viewers/241,000 18-49 viewers. Skin Wars is up 25% in total viewers/up 71% in 18-49 viewers from last week. Skin Wars has also hit a four week high in total viewers, but barely (512K on 7/22, 516K on 7/15). Skin Wars also a four week high in 18-49 viewers (since July 8th) and the third highest rated Skin Wars in 18-49 viewers this season (out of eight thus far).

The Skin Wars rerun at 8pm ET drew 290,000 total viewers and 109,000 18-49 viewers.

Idiotest at 10pm ET, a new episode, drew 374,000 total viewers/143,000 18-49 viewers, up 22% in total viewers/up 24% in 18-49 viewers from last week. The 10:30pm Idiotest, also new, received 275,000 total viewers/102,000 18-49 viewers, down 12% in total viewers/down 26% in 18-49 viewers from last week.

The 10:30pm Idiotest marks the lowest rated Idiotest since May 20th in total viewers and the lowest in 18-49 viewers since June 10th.

Idiotest at 10pm dropped 28% in total viewers/down 41% in 18-49 viewers from Skin Wars. The 10:30pm Idiotest fell 26% in total viewers/down 29% in 18-49 viewers from the 10pm Idiotest.

  1. I've been doing some calculating for Idiotest's viewer averages through the months. Here's what I got.

    April- 391k
    May- 363k
    June- 426k
    July- 347k

Looks like the show had a setback in July because it is the hottest month of the summer.

  2. At least it hit an high at 10 pm. I'm not surprised at that fall at 10:30. Most people usually at that time are getting ready for bed or have news on depending on the area you live on. Otherwise, so-so night for Idiotest. At least Skin Wars rebounded big and it needed it. The show just had an off night last week. I think the only positive for the 10:30 Idiotest is it at least maintained barely over 100k viewers in the demo. I think Idiotest still has a chance at renewal, but just because the show does great in the 18-49 demo.

  3. "Otherwise, so-so night for Idiotest."

I think it was a bad night for Idiotest. Except for the fact the 10pm hour of Idiotest was lower rated last week in total viewers than this week, the drop this week from Skin Wars and then at 10:30pm was just bad and alarming. The 10:30pm Idiotest numbers were just flat out bad.

  4. I question how well The Chase and Chain Reaction performed last night. The Republican presidential debate was on FOX News and typically political debates kill GSN.

    1. And I read an article somewhere that that debate could bring them huge ratings. I don't think the Republican debates with the major 10 started until 9 pm. We'll see what happens.

    2. Last night's Republican Debate was record breaking in viewership, I hear on CNN now, as expected. It began a little before 9pm and ran about two hours.

    3. An update. The debate last night had a 16.0 metered marketing household rating, making that the highest for a debate ever.

    4. I think The Chase will be fine, if not down just a little. Chain Reaction may take the hit.

    5. Besides, the reason many people tuned in was because big names like Donald Trump was participating.

  5. By the way, the primetime average in total/18-49 viewers from 8/5 here was 377K/158K.
