'Skin Wars' Season 2 premieres tonight at 9pm ET on GSN

Rebecca Romijn with the Skin Wars Season 2 painters
The nine month wait is over. The second season of GSN's first non-studio based game show break out hit premieres tonight at 9pm ET! New episodes of Idiotest surround Skin Wars at 8pm, 8:30pm, 10pm and 10:30pm ET.

Everybody from Skin Wars returns for this second season. Rebeeca Romijn returns as host while RuPaul Charles, Robin Slonina and Craig Tracy complete the judges table.

In case you did not know, Skin Wars is a body-painting competition series where the artists paint on human models. Different challenges are given out week to week. One contestant is eliminated each week.

12 contestants compete this season. At the end of this second season, one of the painters will be crowned the Skin Wars champion and will win a $100,000 grand prize, a trip to the World Body Painting Fair in Austria and a nationally-distributed Royal and Langnickel custom brush collection with their name on it.

Natalie Fletcher from Oregon won the first season of Skin Wars.

  1. I saw the Star Wars vs Star Trek episode of Idiotest and I honestly think it was the best episode so far this season. Gleib's impersonations of Yoda and Spock were dead on.

  2. Just posted this on my blog...

UPDATE: Mentioned Skin Wars and even if it's not a game show, I'll give the ratings from Showbuzz. 540K total viewers with a 0.13 18-49 rating. The viewer number is just so-so but the 18-49 rating is great for the ancient-skewing GSN. By comparison, Idiotest, which is a game show, scored 414K, 327K, 395K, and 393K viewers for its four showings in the 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM hours. The 18-49 ratings were 0.10, 0.07, 0.08 and 0.11.

  3. The Showbuzz numbers mean that GSN averaged 435K viewers in prime time last night with a 0.10 18-49 rating. The network would probably take that every night.

  4. Those are great numbers for GSN. I knew Skin Wars would be down looking at last season's decline from beginning to end.

I'll see if Douglas posts/tweets the full numbers for GSN. I like how he posts the 18-49's in the thousands rather than the decimal other sources give.

  5. I decided to put the Showbuzz numbers into a separate entry on my blog, along with a few sour remarks on the tyranny of 18-49.
