Report: 'The Chase', 'Chain Reaction' to air on another night besides Tuesday Show Network's new runs of game shows, The Chase and Chain Reaction, may be scheduled to steer clear of big network competition this summer.

The big new game show, or actually a "revival" coming to network television this summer is Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? on FOX. This will air Tuesdays at 8pm ET starting May 26th.

Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? with Jeff Foxworthy is a hit among hard-core GSN viewers for several reasons. For one, it was a rerun success on game show network for two full years, most of the time in Sunday primetime averaging more than 500,000 total viewers for a multi-hour block. Also, Jeff Foxworthy was a favorite from his work on American Bible Challenge. So, it would be hard for GSN viewers to decide between The Chase on fairly small GSN and Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? on mighty FOX.

FOX is already battling summer's #1 show, America's Got Talent, in the Tuesday 8-10pm timeslot with 5th Grader runs. That's enough big competition right there.

It looks like The Chase and Chain Reaction may air on Thursday nights, a night unoccupied by GSN new runs. My guess is that The Chase would air at 8pm and Chain Reaction at 9pm. The only night this summer, thus far, where GSN will have new runs of programming is Wednesday (Idiotest, Skin Wars).

It is unknown when GSN will announce exact summer premiere dates and times for The Chase and Chain Reaction.

There are thirteen episodes of The Chase remaining. There will be forty half-hour episodes of Chain Reaction.

  1. If CR fails he can always guest on Skin Wars.

  2. Where's this "report" from? This is obviously just speculation on your part. Which is fine, but don't pretend there's some kind of "report" about GSN's future scheduling plans.

  3. This has been known for weeks, ever since we knew 5th Grader was premiering Tuesdays versus The Chase. It looks like GSN may not want to risk direct network competition with game shows.

Then again, Idiotest will face 500 Questions.
