Renewal odds 4/27/15: 'The Chase', 'Baggage On The Road', 'It Takes a Church', 'Idiotest', 'Lie Detectors'

The Chase

Nothing has changed.

Chance of renewal (for Season 5): 99% (Flat)

Baggage On The Road

This just seems to get worse and worse every week. Last week, GSN pulled Jerry from their promo banners on social media. This coming week, Jerry only surfaces at Friday 2am ET. Yikes. The only reason Baggage On The Road has a slight chance of coming back is GSN's really lackluster development slate, with It Takes a Church not living up to standards and Lie Detectors bombing out. If GSN were to ever give Baggage more episodes in 2015, it's because their other projects just aren't working out (which they really aren't right now).

Chance of renewal (for Season 2): 5% (down 10% from last week)

It Takes a Church

It Takes a Church and Idiotest both hit series lows this week in both 18-49 and total viewers. It Takes a Church suffered the much steeper drop from its lead-in. Also, the show really seems to be the last priority for GSN with little promo during the Lie Detectors premiere (which at the time, GSN was hoping would draw a large audience) and when it comes to GSN's promos for all current originals, It Takes a Church and Natalie Grant are barely shown at all (while Skin Wars, Idiotest and The Chase are much more).

Chance of renewal (for Season 3): 25% (down 10% from last week)

This stays flat, despite series lows, and if anything should go up to 80% based on the fact that another GSN original has not succeeded (Lie Detectors). Therefore, GSN needs originals to fill up their relatively dull primetime lineup right now and for the upcoming year. Idiotest still produces great numbers, in new runs and reruns, and looks like it had an off week last week.

Chance of renewal (for Season 3): 75% (flat)

Lie Detectors

221,000 total viewers and 34,000 18-49 viewers over the first four new episodes in a normally heavily viewed slot. Need I say more, GSNers?

Chance of renewal (for Season 2): 1% (down 44% from last week)

  1. Non related, but Wednesday's Idiotest will be a celebrity one. As always, the celebrities on there are people I have never heard of. I think Idiotest will definitely rebound from last week's disaster. I think ITAC is a goner because unless the last 3 episodes really perk up, this show is canceled. BOTR is pretty much gone itself if it only has the late night slot of 2 am. After Mind Of A Man ended its run last May, reruns continued until October. For Baggage On The Road however, reruns lasted only a month and now only has two slots. Maybe MOAM did decently since it stayed in reruns that long until late last year. I'll be honest, I didn't really like BOTR. I thought it was boring and lacked excitement of the original. And it seemed toned down.

    1. "Wednesday's Idiotest will be a celebrity one."

I've seen the promos, never heard of the celebrities. It looks stupid but I like Idiotest so I'll probably end up watching the episode.

"I think Idiotest will definitely rebound from last week's disaster."

Yes, the 6-8pm ET block will be stronger.

100% right on. See my review from day 1

    2. Maybe since The Chase celebrity editions were hits, I guess Idiotest decided to do one as well.

    3. The three celebrity episodes of The Chase thus far were not hits in ratings but weren't failures either.

    4. Can you release the names of the celebs on this event or you held by GSN to not discuss?

    5. Celebs on Idiotest this week? I don't know them off the top of my head, but they are featured in the commercials.

  2. black family feud ratings will drop this week since all the ghetto rats are out rioting in ferguson east aka baltimore.

  3. Not a fan of celebrity editions of anything. The celebrities are making enough money as it is, that they can easily afford being able to donate to charity themselves if they wanted to. No need to play on a game show to earn money for charity, and deprive other regular people who actually need the money from being able to participate.

  4. At this point, The Chase and Idiotest look to be the only shows that have a good chance at getting another season.
