A brand new season of It Takes a Church with Natalie Grant premieres tonight!
This season will feature many surprises. In the eight-episode season, which is expected to conclude in May, will feature guests Bo Bice (American Idol runner-up) and David and Tamela Mann (Madea's Big Happy Family). A surprise proposal will also occur sometime during the season.
In each 60-minute episode of It Takes a Church, one lucky parishioner of a large church gets chosen by his or her family to find four suitors, already set up for them, to go on a date with. Throughout the episode, the parishioner narrows down the choices from four to three to two and eventually one to go on a date with. The couple then goes on a date and the rest is their own choice.
In 2013, after the second season of American Bible Challenge, It Takes a Church was labeled "in development" in GSN's upfronts. From the summer of 2013 through the beginning of 2014, It Takes a Church had many casting problems and nearly never made it to air. The first season of It Takes a Church aired in the summer of 2014 and received generally positive reviews. Last August, GSN renewed It Takes a Church for an eight-episode second season. The first season of It Takes a Church averaged 368,000 total viewers.
