In its third week of its latest new season, GSN's The Chase is up 10% in total viewers versus last week. Tuesday night's new episode, which aired at 8pm ET, scored 667,000 total viewers, an improvement over last week's 598,000 total viewers. This new episode of The Chase drew a 0.1 in the 18-49 demo.
The somewhat bad news is the fact that The Chase dropped from its lead in at 7:30pm, Family Feud. The episode of Feud leading into The Chase scored 763,000 total viewers. The Chase dropped 13% in total viewers from Family Feud. This episode of Family Feud also scored a 0.2 in the 18-49 demo, a fairly rare, high number in the demographic for GSN standards. (Shows that have achieved a 0.2 regularly are Steve Harvey Family Feud in and near primetime, plus Skin Wars regularly. Very few episodes of The Chase have scored a 0.2 in the 18-49 demo.)
On the sidebar poll, 80% of voters said The Chase would fall between 598K and 749K viewers (its season high and low). These voters were correct. 10% said The Chase would hit a season high (749K+) and 10% said The Chase would hit a season low (below 598K).
Big question is, given that the celebrity episode was quite a dip from this episode and the January 27th season premiere, are celebrity episodes bad for The Chase? The first celebrity episode in Season 3 scored 610,000 total viewers, which was notably above the Season 3 average. Was last week's celebrity episode just a random dip, or do viewers of The Chase just do not want to see celebrities on game shows? There's one more celebrity episode of The Chase coming later this season featuring the cast of ABC's Scandal.
