Renewal odds #1: GSN January originals

We are now in the first week of 2015 and Game Show Network already has premiere dates set for two originals, the continuation of the inaugural season of Idiotest and Jerry Springer's Baggage revival, Baggage On The Road (which both premiere this Wednesday, if you didn't know already) and a third original to come along Tuesday, January 27th, the fourth season premiere of The Chase.

Below are what I believe are the renewal odds for each original as of now before their respective premieres.

Gleib's new show on GSN has garnered respectable numbers, averaging 367,000 total viewers through 32 episodes. That does not matter, Idiotest has already been renewed for a second season.

Chance of renewal (for Season 2): 100%

Baggage On The Road

I bet this revival will be the first revival to work on GSN in quite some time. GSN's last fully successful revival was The Newlywed Game in 2009. That's right, SIX YEARS AGO! Since, Lingo, The Pyramid and Minute to Win It were tried by GSN but did not succeed. But since Baggage On The Road looks like a geographical place-filler for The Line, renewal may not be so likely.

Chance of renewal (for revival Season 2): 45%

The Chase

GSN's hit quiz show is back for a fourth season with its largest amount of episodes yet in one season. Although the 18-49 numbers are not as good as Skin Wars and even Idiotest, total viewer numbers are strong for The Chase and unless the upcoming summer originals are huge hits, The Chase sticks around to fill holes in GSN's primetime lineup.

Chance of renewal (for Season 5): 85%

  1. I could see The Chase getting a Season 5 renewal, unless the show shockingly slips in the ratings. Baggage On The Road is a coin flip because remember how Mind Of A Man fared when it premiered in January 2014. It started off strong, then bombed the rest of the way. I hope BOTR succeeds in their 20 episode first season, but I just found that to be weird. Idiotest, I agree that it doesn't matter because there is 8 episodes left this season, and I guess Gleib and the gang are getting ready to tape a second season. Although I think Idiotest would like to end the season strong.
