Ratings: 'Chain Reaction' reruns very high

Douglas Pucci just provided one sample of Chain Reaction afternoon ratings on the heels of the announcement of GSN announcing another Chain Reaction revival

Last Thursday, January 22nd, the hour of Chain Reaction at 3pm ET averaged 444,000 total viewers. The first episode had 413,000 total viewers (3pm) and the second episode rose 13% in viewers to 474,000 total viewers (3:30pm). These numbers are far above the total day average, which the prior week, January 12-18, was 324,000 total viewers.

In other words, 8-year-old Chain Reaction reruns are producing very above average numbers (considering it's the middle of weekday daytime television).

  1. Very good numbers obviously, but actually compared to this time last year, the Chain Reaction numbers are down a bit. Per Douglas's archived ratings from last year for the week of January 13-19, 2014, Chain Reaction was putting up numbers mostly in the 500Ks and 600Ks in the afternoon:

Clearly the show is still very popular and the numbers it is putting up in the afternoon are more than respectable; but the rerun abuse is probably starting to erode the numbers just slightly. I am sure a new set of eps will be welcomed.

Unfortunately considering Chain Reaction is an old-fashioned word type game show, it probably skews demos older than Matlock.
