Ratings: 'Idiotest' up very slightly week to week

This past week's Idiotest, which aired Tuesday at 9pm ET, rose 4% in hour-average total viewers (294,000 viewers this week versus 281,000 viewers last week). The 9pm and first new episode of Idiotest had 318,000 total viewers, up 1% from last week's 316,000 total viewers. At 9:30pm, the second new episode had 269,000 total viewers, up 9% from last week's series low 245,000 viewers.

Both Idiotest episodes had a 0.1 in the 18-49 demographic.

Its lead in, The Chase, had 398,000 total viewers at 8pm ET.

  1. Idiotest got the beloved 0.1 in 18-49. On GSN any show that gets more than a 0.0 in the demo is precious. That's why Idiotest is getting a large bloc on the new weekend schedule. The network is tired of all those news stories about how it's the most ancient-skewing cable net.

    1. But Idiotest probably gets lower total numbers in reruns than the Tuesday numbers we see. The Idiotest 18-49's on weekends probably average a 0.0

Maybe Idiotest does better in reruns than we think. It must, considering we are getting two additional Idiotest hours next weekend.

    2. One, we don't know about demos beyond the limited published information. Two, any show that can ever get a 0.1 in 18-49 - first-runs, reruns, any runs - is precious to GSN.

Traditional game shows have always skewed old. GSN got a reputation as a museum of old game shows, which sent the demos near death. It's hardly surprising that the network is trying for more advertiser-friendly demos. This is commercial television, not an outlet for a few hundred classics fans on the Internet.

    3. I always thought most shows on GSN got a 0.1 that were recent shows (O'Hurley/Harvey Feud, Chain Reaction, Catch 21, Deal or No Deal, Mind of a Man, Newlywed Game, Baggage 2008 shows).

I assume Idiotest is pulling in the best 18-49's....that is why it sticks around with such "average" total viewer figures.

    4. Casey, why do you assume the only fans of classic game shows are on internet message boards and only number in the hundreds? Sure, the people on message boards such as this are more vocal, but that doesn't mean they're the only ones who exist.

  2. Are you going to post the advanced schedules for the week of October 27-November 2 tomorrow?

  3. Idiotest is getting average numbers. It could go either way whether or not it gets a second season.
