'Family Feud' airings at lowest number in over two years

With continuous grumbles and complaints towards Game Show Network through social media about the mass airings of Family Feud, the number of Feud runs per week is now down 23% from the first week of September 2013 and down 31% from the peak of Feud airings in the Fall of 2013.

Many love to watch Family Feud but many others hate how much Game Show Network has been airing the Feud for the past two and a half years.

Surprisingly, the amount of Family Feud airings per week on GSN is at its lowest number since the first three weeks of March 2012, before Steve Harvey's Family Feud debuted on GSN March 28, 2012.

In total, the number of airings for the Richard Karn, John O'Hurley and Steve Harvey versions are down 23% from this week last year, 31% from its peak in late September through November 2013 and down 7% from this week two years ago.

In the past months, it appears Game Show Network has found an alternative to their programming besides Family Feud. Newer originals including The Chase, The Newlywed Game, Baggage, Skin Wars and Idiotest have taken up much of the Feud airtime, while the acquisitions of Shop 'Til You Drop and Let's Ask America have kept down the Feud airings.

GSN currently holds the rights to air the 2005-06, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons of Family Feud.

From this week last year, the airings per week of the Richard Karn version of Family Feud are down 92% and from this week two years ago, Karn Feud airings are down 91%.

From this week last year, the airings per week of the John O'Hurley version of Family Feud are down 12%. From October 2013 to now, John O'Hurley Family Feud airings are down 46%. From this week two years ago, John O'Hurley Feud airings are down 30%.

From this week last year, the airings per week of Steve Harvey's Family Feud are up 3%. From this week two years ago, Steve Harvey's Family Feud airings are up 39%.

Currently, Steve Harvey's Family Feud airs 66 times per week. John O'Hurley's Family Feud airs 14 times per week. Richard Karn's Family Feud airs 2 times per week.

  1. I hope we see another Family Feud marathon like we did for Thanksgiving last year.

    1. I think they should, and also IMO, they need to cut down the Harvey run, I know he is a winner in the ratings, but I think even Amy Davis is getting tired of airing the same two seasons over and over and over again. I think they need to bring Karn Feud back to the weekday lineup, maybe at 6 and 6:30 pm, then Harvey at 7. Harvey does not need the 6 to 8 slot.

    2. I think on Thursday Nights, instead of having 6 hours of Steve, here is my dream Thursday schedule:

      6:00: Family Feud (Karn)
      6:30: Family Feud (Karn)
      7:00 Family Feud (Harvey)
      7:30: Family Feud (Harvey)
      8:00: Family Feud: (Karn)
      8:30: Family Feud: (Karn)
      9:00: Family Feud: (O' Hurley)
      9:30: Family Feud: (O' Hurley)

Although I doubt this will happen.

  2. It is good to see new fresh Harvey episodes from his third season, and I have a feeling that the Season 3 episodes will start airing at 6 pm soon. I think this because at this point in 2014, the first two seasons of the Harvey run have been overused like a million times. It is likely that GSN won't acquire Harvey's 4th season for a couple years since the season broke numerous Nielsen records.
