Skin Wars was first proposed as a new GSN show, along with several others in June 2013, when the series was only in development. GSN later ordered eight episodes and named judges and host this past February.
Skin Wars, like American Bible Challenge in 2012, has received tons of outside-of-GSN advertisement, including this article in the New York Post.

My guess: 537,000 viewers for the 9pm ET premiere. I think a lot of an outside-of-GSN audience will tune into this.
