Game Show Network will cancel one of its one-season originals, Mind of a Man, while American Bible Challenge and It Takes a Church are probable to be cancelled. The Chase has been picked up by GSN for a fourth season to air in early 2015.
It is a terrible Thursday at Game Show Network.
After very low ratings, Mind of a Man has been cancelled after one season, forty episodes. Mind of a Man still remains on the GSN schedule latenights, Monday through Friday at 2am and 2:30am ET, along with a select few spots on weekends. Mind of a Man averaged 257,000 total viewers per episode in new runs from January through May, plus 180,000 total viewers per episode, per week in reruns from January through May.
It is expected that after low ratings, It Takes a Church will be cancelled after one season, eight hour-long episodes. It Takes a Church was removed from the schedule in early August and is not expected back anytime soon. It Takes a Church, in eight episodes averaged 368,000 total viewers, while the July 31st finale saw only 310,000 total viewers and 91K in the 18-49 demo. All episodes have aired.
It is also expected that American Bible Challenge is cancelled after three seasons, 27 episodes. In its third season, American Bible Challenge averaged 550,000 total viewers, down 33% from its second season in 2013. Note that if American Bible Challenge is cancelled, It Takes a Church is definitely out.
Additionally, The Chase will pick up a fourth season, expected to premiere in very early 2015.
This is all in wake of heavy success, particularly in the 18-49 demo by new originals Skin Wars and Idiotest, which both premiered this month.
