GSN has green-lit The Line which will shoot five episodes this Saturday through Tuesday (July 19th through 22nd) in Nashville.

Jeff Davis, who has appeared on Whose Line is it Anyway? and GSN's 2011 series Drew Carey's Improv-a-Ganza will co-host The Line along with Candace Bailey who has been featured on technology news program Attack of the Show!

The Line was first featured in the 2014-15 GSN upfronts and has undergone casting calls in the Nashville, TN area over the past several weeks. GSN has seen some great turnouts in applicants for The Line, where other out-of-studio shows like It Takes a Church have had continuous casting issues.

With this PR, The Line is expected to air on GSN during their 2014-15 television season. Amy Introcaso-Davis states that Nashville is one of the first stops The Line will make, meaning this is a traveling game show.

From the full press release: "The Line invites hundreds of people to line up each day for a chance to win cash and prizes by answering a series of trivia questions. The goal is to get to the “Trivia Vault” at the front of the line, where each contestant can attempt to win a jackpot by answering eight true/false questions,  but many will have an opportunity to play and win while waiting in the line itself. Those who make it to the front of the line will see the jackpot grow with each contestant who fails to answer his or her eight questions."

  1. If this is a traveling game show, then I'm assuming they'll travel to 8 cities, and film 5 episodes each; for a total of 40 episodes.

Waiting in line to answer trivia questions in an out of studio show sounds a lot like Million Second Quiz, which only lasted 2 weeks. I'm sure The Line will last longer than 2 weeks, but the format sounds iffy to me.

  2. I read online he's the son of Ann B Davis(Alice of Brady Bunch fame). Is this correct, as I can see a stunning resemblance?

  3. Thanks. I don't always trust these blog news reports so I wanted to ask. He does have a resemblance to her though.
