The cutback has been gradual with no sudden drops or axing. If anything, the John O'Hurley version of Family Feud has two more airings per week than around a year ago. Richard Karn's version has been taken out more dramatically, with the departures of the Monday night stack, the 12pm (ET) hour, and the long-running 4pm (ET) hour which Karn Family Feud had occupied since 2008.
Karn Feud leaving the schedule?: This is also a sign of the Richard Karn version of Family Feud completely leaving the schedule, given that its sole two slots are early Sunday afternoon, a rather unpopular time to watch television. GSN does not loose the rights to Seasons 5, 6 and 7 of Family Feud (Karn Seasons 2, 3 and 4) until January 2016.
Maybe Karn is getting old: Karn's version has not left the GSN airwaves since 2007. It is also a possibility that GSN wants to finally move on from Karn.
For the O'Hurley version, you all voted in majority that 16 airings a week is "Just right", while no one said it was "Not enough". Though, there is a disagreement on the poll to when the O'Hurley version will leave the schedule. Tied for majority is "The first half of 2015" and "After 2016". In all likelihood, O'Hurley Feud will not leave the schedule until after 2016.
In majority, you all think there is too much Harvey Feud on the schedule that Harvey version will remain on the schedule through the end of the decade.
What GSN still has: GSN has been cutting back on the Karn and O'Hurley versions of Family Feud for some time now. GSN dropped the lease to the 2002-03 season of Karn Feud, Karn's first, while GSN has also dropped the first two seasons of the John O'Hurley-hosted version. GSN currently has access to seasons 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12 and 13 of the modern incarnation of Family Feud.
Total: All three versions of Family Feud consume 31% of the programming week, not including overnight Paid Programming hours. Whereas one year ago, Family Feud consumed 39% of the schedule. At the peak, "most ever" in September 2013, Family Feud consumed 42.7% of the entire schedule.
For a comparison, in the Summer of 2012, Family Feud (Dawson/Karn/O'Hurley/Harvey) consumed 32% of the schedule. At the start of 2012, Family Feud (Dawson/Karn/O'Hurley) consumed 16.3% of the schedule.
