2014-15 GSN upfronts. App Wars, delivered from the success of ABC's Shark Tank had been pitched to, then rejected by several other major cable networks. App Wars is very similar to Shark Tank. In App Wars, five contestants with a smart phone app idea/invention will pitch their idea to "judges." Only one contestant will receive the final cash prize from the judges to launch and market the app. GSN had originally ordered a pilot back in March and released a casting call in April.
Remember people, as a disclaimer this does not mean App Wars is coming onto the airwaves any day soon, this may take nearly a year. For example, It Takes a Church, after being pitched to GSN in Spring 2013 was suppose to premiere in February 2014 but was delayed due to casting issues throughout last Summer and Fall. Another solid example here is Skin Wars, which the idea was developed well before Idiotest but had issues getting to air, of which issues I do not know.
Some other small news today: Bounce TV, a network for African-American television viewing has seen continuous growth in overall and primetime viewership over the past five quarters (Q2 2013, Q3 2013, Q4 2013, Q1 2014, Q2 2014). BounceTV acquired episodes of GSN's American Bible Challenge, Catch 21 and The Newlywed Game last Summer.
