Featured here earlier at GameShowNetworkNews and also on the GSN Online Schedule, the following early daytime schedule changes are in effect starting today:
*Blockbusters will air at 9am, replacing Password Plus.
*Sale of the Century will air at 10am; replacing The $25,000 Pyramid
*The $25,000 Pyramid will air at 10:30am; replacing Sale of the Century
*Shop 'Til You Drop will air at 12pm and 12:30pm; replacing 1 vs. 100 (Inaba) and Lingo (Engvall).
In addition, starting this coming weekend (6/14 and 6/15), Password Plus will air at 9am, replacing Blockbusters.
We have not seen any numbers in a while but from these changes, we must know the following: Password Plus was dropping from the Match Game audience, which can usually have up to 200,000 viewers in the 8:30am timeslot. We already knew the very modern versions of 1 vs. 100 and Lingo weren't doing so well in early daytime, but they could always be given another chance down the road later in daytime, where modern type of shows belong.
Once again, I think a good transition between pre-1990 shows prior to noon and shows like Catch 21 and Deal or No Deal are early 2000's episodes of Karn's Family Feud and Shop 'Til You Drop which are two shows that produced efficient numbers in the noon hour during Summer 2013 onwards through early 2014, but GSN decided to pull them for other options.
Lastly, GSN's Whammy! must be producing some nice numbers and rising from the lead-in in the mornings to stay sandwiched between classics.
