Daytime Emmys 2014: Nothing for GSN

Jeopardy! wins Outstanding Game Show
Last night the 2014 Daytime Emmys took place with host Kathy Griffin. This year Game Show Network had three nominations with American Bible Challenge and The Chase for Outstanding Game Show plus Jeff Foxworthy was nominated for Outstanding Game Show Host, for American Bible Challenge. Jeopardy! won Outstanding Game Show over American Bible Challenge and The Chase while Steve Harvey won Outstanding Game Show Host for Family Feud.

Steve Harvey, the daytime talk show also won an award for Outstanding Talk Show.

Brooke Burns and Mark Labbett from GSN's The Chase presented the award for Outstanding Morning Program.

The Daytime Emmys were streamed online this year due to low television ratings from previous years.

  1. I hope Jeopardy! winning the award for Outstanding Game Show will encourage GSN to bring back Jeopardy! sometime soon, just like how Steve Harvey winning the award for Outstanding Game Show Host encouraged GSN to add an additional hour of Harvey Feud on weekdays.

The Daytime Emmy Awards usually got around 800k viewers, which is low for their standards. If GSN had picked up the rights to the awards show, (which I'm surprised they didn't) it would've been GSN's highest rated broadcast of the month, with The American Bible Challenge not doing well this season. I really don't see The American Bible Challenge getting another season unless ratings really pick up for the semifinals and the Grand Finale. I also blame 5th Grader not being on the schedule for Bible Challenge's lower ratings this year, as their is no other way on GSN to see Jeff Foxworthy. GSN really needs to acquire Syndie 5th Grader, and soon.

  2. 5th Grader is missed on the schedule. I've always said GSN should pick up the syndicated version but if it has not happened yet, especially with the FOX version off the schedule, it may never happen at all.
