  1. All the morning changes produced lower ratings for GSN....

    Blockbusters: 198K (First 16 weeks in 2014)
    Password Plus: 165K this week

Press Your Luck: 244K (First 16 weeks in 2014)
    Whammy = 208K this week

    $100,000 Pyramid: 203K (First 16 weeks in 2014)
    Lingo (Woolery): 163K this week

Also in 2013 Lingo (Woolery) averaged only 170K at 11:30....Absolutly no excuse to replace $100,000 Pyramid at 11:30, especially when Lingo (Woolery) is a proven loser in that time slot.

Also even though i personally don't mind the show, 1 vs. 100 (Inaba) needs to go at noon. It's getting substantially worse ratings than any of it's predecessors in the noon spot (Shop Till You Drop, Lingo (Woolery), $100,000 Pyramid).

    1. It's a little unfair to compare this week to the first 16 weeks of 2014, because those weeks included some of the most watched periods in the network's history. The brutal winter weather helped all TV networks, including GSN.

Network execs are more likely looking at the relative performance of the shows in the weekday morning widow. Whammy turned in the best numbers, which really isn't much of a surprise given its generally decent performance on weekend mornings. Woolery Lingo suffered opposite the second half of TPiR, but what doesn't?

I agree that Carrie Ann's 1 vs. 100 isn't doing the job at noon. Might as well go with another half-hour of Chuck and Shandi.

Chain Reaction got its usual good numbers in the afternoon. I would have given the show the full 4:00 PM hour, replacing the underperformaing Shop Til You Drop, and kept Pyramid at 2:30 PM.

As for Mind of a Man, I've exhausted myself shouting about the show's miserable performance. Somebody wake up Amy Davis and tell her that nobody is watching DeRay and friends.

    2. Bring back Family Trade!
At least that show didn't force the viewers to laugh at bad jokes.

    3. FT was a ratings disaster and I think it's all too known by now that reality doesn't work on GSN.

    4. I would not want to see Family Trade back on GSN; however, it was one of their few reality programs that I actually could watch and enjoy. I also think it could have worked on a network such as History or TruTV, but yes, bringing it back to GSN would not be a good idea.

    5. "Bring back Family Trade!"

  2. Whammy was highest rated show in the AM with 208k. That says the classics are not here to stay.
Catch 21 is a proven winner with being almost the highest rated show of the day. Time to increase it's airings. The show had many seasons and it's certainly capable of multiple airings (2 or 3).

    1. No, I think all that says is people were tuning in for the changes or to "sample" the "new" show, Whammy. I fully expect its numbers to drop in the coming weeks.

  3. In case anyone's interested, here are the ratings for the classics on the weekends.

    9:00am Blockbusters 75k
    9:30am Press Your Luck 170k

    1. That 9am weekend slot is brutal for whichever show is placed there.
But the fact that "Press Your Luck" did better than most airings of "Mind of a Man" with no promotion speaks volumes...

  4. Who was behind the ratings of the new shows(2000-present ones)? and.....

What if Chain Reaction get 13-20 airings a week in a coming weeks or months?

    1. Chain Reaction did fine when it was getting 10 airings a week in the 3:00 PM slot. The show could easily sustain a hour block in the afternoon..

  5. GSN is slowly removing the classics and the ratings prove why. I wouldn't be surprised if they replaced some of the other classics with newer stuff that is similar.
Sale of the Century could get replaced with Temptation: the new SoTC.Could happen.
$25k Pyramid gets replaced with Donny Osmond's Pyramid.
Match Game gets replaced with Match Game '98.

And since they are probably trying to get Wheel of Fortune newer seasons (post 2000) and they are not getting it soon enough, they will just find another Merv Griffin entity that is cheap and "newer": Merv Griffin's Crosswords.

    1. What on earth are you talking about? The ratings aren't as bad as you make them seem for the classics. Replacing the classics with inferior versions of the same show won't help. See? Yes, let's replace Sale of the Century with the awful remake. Let's replace classic Pyramid with the far inferior newer version. Let's replace the great Match Game with the terrible Match Game '98. Some people are just obsessed with replacing the classics, but the fact is that they do better in daytime (and unadvertised) than some of GSN's prized originals (I'm looking at you, Mind of a Man.).

    2. Your IQ is about as high as those dummies who couldn't fill in the blanks to "MOSQUITOES" on Scrabble

Merv Griffin's Crosswords airs on RTV so it's not going to be on GSN anytime soon (if at all)

Temptation: the new SoTC: HA! with any luck Fremantlemedia probably throw the master tapes of the US version in the Pacific Ocean

Match Game '98 : Don't make me laugh!

2002 Pyramid No it would better in Prime time if it comes back (witch i doubt)

it's people like you that make me sick

  6. Okay, I'm not one to be nit picky, BUT I have one complaint to the master of this site. You need to change your wording every time the ratings come out. Family Feud did not take the top 30 of 40 spots. It took 30 OF THE TOP 40 spots. What you always say makes it look like it ran the table from 1-30.

    1. Hey, at least he's not Alex Davis with news on British shows or Whose Line....

  7. It's a sad day when DeRay Davis gets more viewers than Bill Cullen

    1. Flip the timeslots and he wouldn't be getting more viewers.

  8. Good point. I remove my nit pick!! : ) Things could be much worse.

  9. It's been 3 days since this website has posted anything at all.

    Is this website still active?

  10. Yes, GameShowNetworkNews is still active. There have been limited posts due to slow news and a busy schedule in my personal life.
