'The Chase' up seven percent to another series high

Source: SonoftheBronx (Douglas Pucci)

Since last week's series high of 620,000 viewers and 195K viewers in the 18-49 demo, The Chase gained viewers for last night's new episode with 666,000 total viewers. With this latest number, The Chase has earned another series high in total viewers topping ratings for every other episode since and including the August 2013 premiere. The Chase also earned a very impressive but not record-breaking 169K in the 18-49 demographic.

A 9:00pm rerun of The Chase saw 475,000 viewers, more than new runs of Minute to Win It and Mind of a Man in the past months and weeks.

Comparing this new run of The Chase earning 666,000 viewers, that number is nearly twice the average weekly primetime viewership for GSN. The 169K in the 18-49 demo is also nearly double the average 18-49 demo for GSN.

In addition, shows like Catch 21 and defintely The Pyramid reached their highest numbers in new runs and reruns on GSN since their 2008 and 2012 premieres. Catch 21 saw 674,000 viewers at 2:00pm and The Pyramid a half-hour later had 727,000 viewers. Chain Reaction had 589,000 viewers at 3:00pm and 616,000 viewers at 3:30pm. A Steve Harvey-hosted Family Feud episode drew a very attractive 659,000 viewers.

All Times Eastern

  1. We're in the peak viewing months and GSN is available in an all-time high 80 million households. So the network is set up to deliver some impressive numbers by its historical standards.

Odd that Chain Reaction is disappearing form the schedule when it gets consistently good ratings. But you can only rerun two seasons so far into the ground, I guess.

  2. I've noticed in 2012 and 2013, GSN viewership has peaked from June to August. January 2012 was DWTS and no new originals/nothing fresh. January 2013 was nothing fresh on the schedule too.

I'm just glad that The Chase is doing well.

  3. By the way, Chuck and Shandi return to the schedule at noon starting January 20.

  4. That doesn't make sense. 'Shop' did fine at noon. I'll worry about it after today's madness
