GSN Ratings October 7-13, 2013: Harvey Feud, all else fall

For the second week of October SonoftheBronx reports that Steve Harvey's Family Feud took the top eight of ten slots while Chain Reaction took 4th (421,000 viewers) and Catch 21 in 6th place (416,000 viewers). Some other top rated shows this week were The Pyramid and The Newlywed Game, both in the top 20.

Monday was a higher rated day (daytime) due to Columbus Day.

Family Feud, with ratings weaker than usual, still took the top 63 of 100 slots. 44 of those 63 for the Harvey version, 9 of 63 for O'Hurley and 10 of 63 for the Karn version.

Only one show was above 500,000 viewers, Steve Harvey's Feud Sunday at 12:30am with 515,000 viewers, ten shows above 400,000 viewers and only 55 shows above 300,000 viewers.

  1. Catch 21 and Chain Reaction are doing well in their afternoon timeslots, I think a revival for one of these two will happen eventually.

Dang, the highest rated Harvey airing was Sunday late night? Even Wednesday nights are being affected by the "wear and tear", it may be a shock to you saying this, but I could see Wednesday nights getting changed eventually.

Every night is doing poorly, I personally wouldn't be surprised if every night was given a schedule change if ratings don't pick up. GSN needs a new acquisiton, and soon.

    1. What I would like to see before a revival (I'd actually have GSN create new, good stuff) is Catch 21 and Chain Reaction reruns moved to later in the afternoon to cover up some Feud slots from 4-6pm. Earlier, a 1 vs 100 (Inaba) and Lingo (Engvall) return could shake things up. That's just me.

Not surprised Harvey Feud got the top spot, even if it was weaker than usual. Though I am surprised in that exact slot, where Harvey Feud does poorer than usual.

And yes, they need to acquire something new and fast. Plus at this point, a lot of it.

  2. I could see an afternoon shakeup look like this.
    2:00pm 1 vs. 100
    2:30pm Lingo
    3:00pm Catch 21
    3:30pm The Pyramid
    4:00pm Chain Reaction
    4:30pm Chain Reaction

I'm not surprised to see Harvey at the top, though the timeslot did surprise me.

If GSN doesn't acquire something soon, the schedule is going to look more boring than watching grass grow. Okay, not really, but you know what I mean.

    1. My thoughts, almost.

Here's my idea (without any new acquisitions):

      2:00pm: 1 vs 100
      2:30pm: Lingo (Engvall)
      3:00pm: Lingo (Engvall)
      3:30pm: The Pyramid
      4:00pm: Chain Reaction
      4:30pm: Chain Reaction
      5:00pm: Catch 21
      5:30pm: Catch 21

If one of the Engvall Lingo slots or Catch 21 airings gets worn down, I'd like to see GSN's Whammy!

    2. I like your idea, but 2 Engvall slots seems a little too much. I'll explain, with only 40 episodes, the show would cycle around in only 4 weeks. So the ratings might be good for the first 4 weeks, but then I could see the ratings slip, I would suggest put Whammy at 3pm, or I would like it but doubtful, Woolery Lingo.
