September 2012 versus September 2013

September calendarWith some of the most recent schedule changes on the GSN Schedule, this bring me back to some of the schedule changes last year.

At the beginning of September 2012, GSN swapped Password Plus and Lingo (Engvall) for Steve Harvey's Family Feud and Baggage in latenights. The late-night schedule changes gave both shows more well-deserved airtime, with Steve Harvey Feud gaining 20 more slots and Baggage climbing from 1-a-night to 4-a-night.

The late-night numbers rose with Feud and Baggage, but it was almost like a desperate attempt for GSN to get more ratings while dumping late-night pre-1990's favorites.

There were also schedule changes earlier in the day. Deal or No Deal, an hour-long network game show dropped off the schedule for the first time in more than three years. This year, that hour-long game show is FOX's Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? Deal or No Deal later returned to the schedule at the 4:00 hour weekdays, but was pulled six weeks later. Deal or No Deal later proved well in a New Years' marathon.

5th Grader swapped in for Deal or No Deal weekdays at 1pm, while GSN's Whammy! was added to 12pm though only lasted for six weeks.

Still, I do think John O'Hurley's Family Feud at 1pm weekdays is a placeholder, sorta like Whammy! was last year (at 12pm). No one knows for sure what may or may not come around come October, but something tells me John's 4-an-afternoon can't last too long.

Well, I'll say the following from this article. I was wrong about The Chase not getting rerun after the season finale, which I suppose wasn't expected until the significant number came along. Still, Tuesday and Friday primetime have been shuffled for some moderate changes, but nothing catastrophic. Everything else may happen later at some point.

  1. Sorry to be so blunt, but I'm starting to doubt that you have any sources at GSN at all, much less reliable ones. I don't have any reliable sources at the network beyond the nice lady who provides me the advance schedules. And those schedules are subject to massive changes at the last minute.

Predicting the GSN schedule is hopeless. I don't think that Amy Davis knows for sure what's going to happen six weeks from now.

  2. This isn't a rumor/"Source says" article. I'm just comparing September 2012 versus September 2013.

It's more of a prediction article if anything.

No one really knows what will happen six weeks from now at GSN, around cable or anything under the sun.
