Three years...

Just around this time of year, Baggage premiered. A lot of hard-core GSN viewers, including myself, did not expect it Baggage to become the huge hit it grew to be. Just with Catch 21, Newlywed Game and High Stakes Poker highly-rated, while Love Connection reruns in 2009 didn't succeed too well, Baggage was highly questionable.

All of a sudden Baggage had a second season, with a huge 130-episode order. From April 2010-April 2011, those were really good times for GSN Originals. Catch 21, Newlywed Game and Baggage all lined up within the same hour and a half, and they all had the same type of audience. Carnie Wilson left Newlywed Game, then Sherri Shepherd came in, and even rose ratings for The Newlywed Game in its fourth season.

Baggage eventually fell with a different timeslot in its third season. With new episodes ending in May 2012, the reruns still do really well weeknights at midnight, and reruns of Baggage do well in syndication.

For the record, I thought Springer was the best product of Baggage. He did a much better job than I expected and stayed at the network for two years to shoot 300 total episodes. I miss that Newlywed-Baggage block at 6:00 and 6:30 weeknights. I like how things are here in 2012 and 2013, but there was just a better vibe with GSN three years ago.
