'Twas a year ago today

Can you believe it? One year ago today, GSN acquired Steve Harvey's Family Feud.

Though it may not seem like a big deal to casual GSN viewers and hard-core classic fans, throughout 2012 and 2013, the first season of Family Feud hosted by Steve Harvey has carried this network, giving better lead-ins to shows like American Bible Challenge, The Newlywed Game and even helping out primetime shows like Minute to Win It and 5th Grader.

Since Steve Harvey's Feud was acquired, the network's primetime viewership has reached highs it really hasn't since early 2010. Harvey Feud has been dominating about 80-90 percent of the top slots of each week in ratings since last Spring. It didn't start out too hot last March 28th, but ratings rose from there.

Since the week of May 21-27, Harvey Feud has been the top-rated show every week, excluding American Bible Challenge

At first, 2010-11 Feud had 10 slots a week and the Karn and O'Hurley versions had just about two dozen appearances on the schedule as well. Soon, by April, the three modern versions of Feud had jumped to 88 slots a week, and Harvey Feud gained an additional 14 slots a week [now up to 24 airings, post-Dancing with the Stars] By May, Harvey Feud had 36 slots a week, and now, it's up to 60 being added in late-nights.

Just gotta say: Whoever from FremantleMedia, or someone on the Feud staff that made the decision for Steve Harvey to host Family Feud, was a downright genius.
