GSN's 'American Bible Challenge' premieres tonight at 9/8c
American Bible Challenge returns to GSN tonight for "The Second Coming". The first episode [I assume] we will be seeing "Three nuns, Three Rednecks and Three Rabbis walking into a game show". A change this season to getting to the $100,000 top prize, for charity, is also having to participate in Minute to Win It-like stunts. We will see who takes first tonight to move onto the Semi-Finals, and continue on the path of Judson's Legacy, who won last year.
Ratings Prediction: Can't see the 1.73 million happening again for Bible, or anything close to it. Sure, there have been a couple promotions outside GSN here and there, but this time around, there has been no Fox News appearance, CNN appearace, Foxworthy appearing on late-night talk shows or major ads at Zap2It. None of those.
I can see above 800,000 watching the 9pm run, and another 400,000 for the later run. Would be very surprised and excited for anything over a million, and disappointed for anything under 800,000. Also, there's some more stuff to compete with on network television like Glee, 1600 Penn, NCAA Basketball and Grey's Anatomy that wasn't there last August.
I have to hand it to GSN for getting a new original into a second season for the first time since the Spring of 2010. That was Jerry Springer's Baggage, and continues to thrive on the network in reruns. We all knew Improv and Love Triangle didn't have much of a chance, but even I thought 1 vs 100 and Lingo II had good potential, for a GSN budget for gameplay and host.
The American Bible Challenge premieres on GSN tonight at 9pm Eastern/6pm Pacific, a lead-out to two hours of "New to GSN" Steve Harvey Family Feud.
