Family Trade averages 403,000 viewers

Getting some exclusive information now from TVMediaInsights that GSN's newest reality series, Family Trade, earned 388,000 viewers at 8pm, and 418,000 viewers at 8:30pm.

Believe me, with all the promotion GSN gave this show, advertising it on Zap2It and all over the network, these are not the numbers GSN was looking for. Imagine The Pyramid or American Bible Challenge debuting this low. That would be a disappointment.

I believe Hidden Agenda and/or Instant Recall debuted with numbers almost exactly like these, then of course fell and disappeared off the schedule quickly.

The newsletter also mentioned that GSN averaged 402,000 viewers just last week in primetime, and 361,000 in primetime the previous week.

  1. I believe Hidden Agenda and Instant Recall both flopped right out the gate. But other shows like Lingo (Engvall), 1 vs. 100 (Inaba), The Pyramid, Drew Carey's Improv-a-Ganza, and Beat The Chefs got better ratings for their respective debuts, and none of them made it to a second season. So GSN better hope that the ratings hold up at this level. Admittedly, the fact that the ratings actually went up for the second airing is somewhat encouraging for the show.
